What Is All-on-4?
All-on-4 is a full-arch dental implant technique that uses just four strategically placed implants to support an entire row of teeth - either the upper arch, the lower arch, or both. The four implants are angled precisely within the jawbone to maximize contact with available bone, which means most patients qualify without needing bone grafting first.
A fixed prosthetic arch - a full set of teeth - is then secured onto those four implants. Unlike conventional dentures, this arch does not come out. It is brushed and cared for just like natural teeth. It does not move when you eat, speak, or laugh.
The term "All-on-4" refers to the concept: an entire arch of teeth, supported on four implants. At Academy Dental, Dr. Park uses CBCT 3D imaging to plan every All-on-4 case with precision, ensuring optimal implant positioning for each individual patient's anatomy.
All-on-4 vs. Conventional Dentures
Many patients come to us after years of struggling with traditional dentures. Here is how the two options compare:
Conventional Dentures
- Rest on the gums - no bone connection
- Can slip, click, or fall out when eating or speaking
- Require adhesives for stability
- Must be removed nightly for cleaning
- Do not stop jawbone loss - bone continues to shrink over time
- Need relining or replacement every 5–7 years as the jaw changes shape
- Limit what you can eat - sticky, hard, or crunchy foods are often off the table
All-on-4 Implants
- Anchored directly into the jawbone - fully stable
- Fixed in place - no movement, no adhesives, no removal
- Stimulate the jawbone and prevent further bone loss
- Cared for like natural teeth - brush, floss, regular checkups
- Long-lasting - implants designed to last decades
- No dietary restrictions - eat what you want with confidence
- Look and feel completely natural
For patients who are currently denture wearers, the difference in quality of life after All-on-4 is dramatic. Patients regularly describe it as getting their life back.
Who Is a Candidate for All-on-4?
All-on-4 is designed for patients who are missing all or most of their teeth on one or both arches. You may be a strong candidate if:
- You are currently wearing full or partial dentures and are unhappy with the fit or function
- You have multiple failing teeth that need to be extracted
- You have been told you have bone loss - All-on-4's angled implant technique is specifically designed to work with reduced bone volume, often eliminating the need for grafting
- You are in generally good health and are a non-smoker or willing to quit during the healing period
- You want a permanent, fixed solution rather than a removable appliance
During your consultation at our East Orange office, Dr. Park uses CBCT 3D imaging to evaluate your bone structure, gum health, and overall candidacy in detail. Many patients who have been turned away elsewhere - or told they need extensive bone grafting first - are still candidates for All-on-4.

The All-on-4 Process at Academy Dental East Orange
Step 1 - Consultation & 3D Imaging: Dr. Park conducts a comprehensive evaluation using CBCT 3D imaging to map your jaw, assess available bone, and design your individual implant plan. You will leave your first visit with a clear picture of your treatment timeline and what to expect.
Step 2 - Extraction (If Needed): If any remaining failing teeth need to be removed, this is coordinated as part of your overall treatment plan. In many cases, extractions and implant placement can be completed in the same procedure.
Step 3 - Implant Placement: Four titanium implant posts are placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia. Sedation is available. Dr. Park's CBCT-guided placement plan ensures each implant is positioned for maximum bone contact and long-term stability.
Step 4 - Temporary Arch: In many cases, a temporary full arch of teeth is attached to the implants on the same day as placement - giving you functional teeth immediately while the implants heal and fuse with the bone.
Step 5 - Final Restoration: After full osseointegration - typically 3 to 6 months - your permanent, custom-fabricated prosthetic arch is attached. This final arch is matched in color, shape, and size to give you the most natural-looking result possible.

All-on-4 FAQs
Q1: Am I too old for All-on-4 implants? Age alone is not a disqualifying factor. Many of our All-on-4 patients are in their 60s, 70s, and beyond. What matters is overall health, bone structure, and healing ability - all of which Dr. Park evaluates thoroughly during your consultation. Most older adults in good general health are excellent candidates.
Q2: Will I have teeth the same day as my surgery? In many cases, yes. A temporary arch is often attached on the same day as implant placement, so you walk out with functional teeth. The permanent final arch is placed after full healing - typically 3 to 6 months later.
Q3: How do I clean All-on-4 implants? All-on-4 restorations are cared for much like natural teeth. Brush twice daily, use an interdental brush or water flosser to clean around and beneath the arch, and attend regular cleanings at Academy Dental. We provide full aftercare instructions at every stage of your treatment.
Q4: What if I have been told I don't have enough bone for implants? All-on-4 was specifically engineered for patients with reduced bone volume. The angled placement of the rear implants allows them to engage denser areas of the jaw - which is why many patients who were told they need extensive bone grafting can still qualify for All-on-4. A CBCT scan during your consultation will give us a definitive answer.
Q5: Does Academy Dental accept Medicaid for All-on-4 treatment? Yes. We accept NJ FamilyCare (Medicaid) and most major insurance plans. We also offer financing through CareCredit, Sunbit, and Cherry.
